Other Projects...
This is a stone mailbox I put together. First I
attached the mailbox to a 4X4 and then
stacked stone around it. The stone on the right
is higher due to baseball bats. Brass numbers
were attached by liquid nails.
People are so lazy. At the transfer
station about every two months I see a
rotted out bench that someone has
thrown away.
So I pull the ends out of the metal
dumpster; buy new wood (sometimes
the wood just needs to be cleaned up);
spray paint the iron green or red; Use
the old fasteners when possible; stain
the wood.
So far I have gotten eight of them.
Kept five for myself, and given three
away as gifts.
Then I noticed some of them had
great designs on them. I thought a
little color would bring them to life....
I have added seven ceramic pots to the
property to accent the stone wall and
walk.
Home depot was having a sale.
Well during the winter I was unsure what
to do with them. Three fake branches,
some leaves are nice.
I added two snowmen to the ones next to
the arbor entrance.
This is a shaker I built. A bit crude,
but works.
The electric motor spins and turns
the pulley (gear reduction); The
pulley spins the shaft that goes
through it; I welded a bolt to the
outside of that shaft, which gives it
an offset.
That bolt then goes through the
bearing attached to the angle iron
going to the shaker screen.
The shaker screen is attached in the
back with lag bolts. The 2X4's allow it
to rock back and forth easily. The
front part of the shaker is just riding
on some angle iron, which I grease.
I attach the whole thing to the back
of my truck, so the screen shakes,
not the whole shaker.

I built this so I could screen soil on
my property to separate the dirt form
the stone so I could accurately make
concrete (3 part stone, 2 part dirt, 1
part mortar).
I have also used it with a much finer
screen to make good sand for
placing stone.

I use two wheelbarrows with this.
One for the stone and one for the
screened material.
